The first two sheets of these just came out of the oven and they smell amazing. Utterly delicious. I’m thinking of omitting the nuts and using the cookies for ice cream sandwiches! These cookies won the Taster’s Choice Award and I made it into the finalists and baked cookies for visitors to the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis,MN. Not to mention I think I now have a new favorite cookie. Does that sound right?? I had no toffee chunks in the finished cookie and what appeared to be the toffee oozed out of some of them during baking and caramelized in a puddle nearby :-/ The cookies still turned out pretty good — chewy and very chocolatey, with a much-needed sprinkling of salt. I made these last night, was planning on using Daim bars (I’m in UK) but couldn’t find any in the supermarket so I went with Werther’s Originals, which are the closest thing I could find texture wise (they are hard and shatter when smashed with a rolling pin!).
